Some say yes, while others say no.
What it comes down to is, alcoholism is a treatable disease. If someone is battling alcohol addiction, they should seek help from others who are trained counselors. There are groups and even pills or shots that can make giving up alcohol for good a little easier.
However, this blog is about whether or not Cannabis can be used to alleviate some of the effects of alcohol dependence.
Truthfully, Cannabis can be a helpful tool in your arsenal to tick some of the boxes for underlying factors that may make it difficult to totally give up drinking. What I mean is, some people may drink to drown their sorrows whatever they may be. Many people have their own unique reasons for consuming alcohol regularly. Truthfully someone could get therapy and move past any emotional memories that may trigger an impulse to drink, but still struggle or relapse back to drinking again simply because of the addictiveness of alcohol.
Even someone who has quit drinking permanently will likely need to refrain from alcohol for the rest of their life, or else risk relapsing back to drinking every day.
For me personally, using Cannabis has been a big help in keeping myself from consuming alcohol. When I feel as though I really want a drink, I try to stop thinking about it and instead get excited about being able to smoke some weed or eat an edible or something. This usually keeps my mind off of things long enough to make it most of the way through the day. If it pops back into my mind, then I smoke a little bit more and I'm good for a while.
